Providence, RI — Load Records HQ, Lightning Bolt, Fort Thunder, a whole rat's nest of noise rock weirdos operating out of RISD-adjacent DIY spaces. Six Finger Satellite ran out of Providence too — Sub Pop-signed, post-punk-inflected, weirder than most of Sub Pop's roster. The city is small, the scene is tight, the records are aggressive.
