Providence weirdos on Sub Pop. Angular, paranoid, synth-inflected noise rock. J. Ryan's vocals are dry and nervous; John MacLean's guitar is jagged (MacLean later decamped to DFA and made the LCD Soundsystem connection). Severe Exposure and Paranormalized are essential. Ahead of their time, still underrated.
