Scratch Acid
The Big Bang. Before Jesus Lizard, before Rapeman, there was Scratch Acid in Austin making the most unhinged racket in Texas. Yow, Sims, and Washam in the same room before they scattered across the noise rock universe. Two EPs and one album that sound like they were recorded inside a garbage disposal. Raw, feral, absolutely essential. When they split the shrapnel hit every corner of the underground.
People
The wildest frontman in noise rock. Scratch Acid, Jesus Lizard, and a thousand nights of shirtless crowd-surfing mayhem. Goes from a croon to a howl to a full-body convulsion in about three seconds. If you stood in the front row you got Yow in your lap whether you wanted it or not.
Three of the heaviest bands in noise rock and Sims was the bass player in ALL of them. Scratch Acid, Rapeman, Jesus Lizard. His tone sounds like a bulldozer with a distortion pedal. Grinding, relentless, absolutely crucial.
Scratch Acid. Rapeman. Hits harder than anybody. That's the bio. What else do you need?
Scratch Acid's guitarist, laying down the serrated riffs that gave Yow something to howl over. Austin noise-punk at its most unhinged. That band was a wrecking crew and Bradford's guitar was the battering ram.
