Cherubs
1992–present·Austin, TX
Austin three-piece that made one perfect record in the 90s, broke up, and then twenty years later came back and somehow started making BETTER records. Whitley's guitar is detuned and corrosive, McMahon's bass is a slab of concrete, Prager hits the drums like he's breaking up a fight. Short of Popular and Heroin Man on Trance Syndicate in '93/'94 were instant classics you could barely find. Second act: 2 Ynfynyty, Immaculada High. Confirmation that some bands age the right way.

Kevin Whitley
guitarvocals
Cherubs' singing guitarist. Originated the band's whole thing — a melodic sensibility riding on top of a deeply hostile low end. The reunion records are somehow better than the originals, which is almost unheard of in this genre.
