Four guys from Allentown writing noise rock about unfinished basements, lower back pain, and the indignities of middle-class adulthood. Korvette howls like a man who just found out his HSA doesn't cover the procedure; the guitar tone is a motorboat full of gravel. Shellac and Jesus Lizard run through them without it ever being imitation — they kept the brutality and swapped the menace for a cold comic eye. Sub Pop gave them a bigger stage than 2000s noise rock bands usually get and they did not blink. Half Divorced is the best late-career noise rock record by anyone.
