Trance Syndicate Records
1990–1999·Austin, TX·1 band
King Coffey's Austin label — the Butthole Surfers drummer using his band's money to fund some of the weirdest records of the decade. Cherubs, Crust, Pain Teens, Ed Hall, earliest Trail of Dead. Trance was the Texas counterpart to AmRep: regional, aesthetically committed, totally uninterested in what the coasts thought. Shut down in '99 when Touch and Go stopped distributing it but the catalog still circulates hand to hand.
