Clockcleaner

2002–2009·Philadelphia, PA

John Sharkey III's Philly power trio — the band that proved mid-2000s noise rock wasn't dead, it was just hiding in the Mid-Atlantic. Babylon Rules on Load is the record: slow, mean riffs, Sharkey delivering contempt like he's reading it off a receipt. Broke up in 2009 and became a minor legend overnight. Made the mid-2000s Philly basement circuit feel like the last time a show could give you PTSD. Sharkey decamped to Australia after, but Babylon Rules is where the myth starts.

guitarvocals

Clockcleaner's singing guitarist. Moved to Australia after the band broke up in 2009, started Puerto Rico Flowers, kept writing. Sharkey's schtick in Clockcleaner was delivering contempt like he was reading it off a receipt. Babylon Rules is the document.
