Scandinavia's contribution to noise rock is small in band count and deep in influence. Brainbombs out of Hässleholm set a tone that bands all over the world would quote for decades — grinding, metronomic, deliberately provocative — and their records passed hand to hand through the international noise rock underground long before the internet made them easy to find. Swedish noise tends toward the repetitive, the mechanical, the uncompromising. Not the American 'heavy' aesthetic. Different room, different air.
